Virtual Dynamic Interface Presentation At AHS Forum 71

CRAFT Tech has been working with Pennsylvania State University to develop a virtual dynamic interface simulation using fully coupled Navier-Stokes CFD with a helicopter flight dynamics model. Ilker Oruc, PhD candidate at Penn State, will be presenting the initial findings of this effort at the American Helicopter Society International’s Forum 71. This presentation will cover the initial coupling of the codes and development of baseline cases. Free flight simulations were performed using CRUNCH CFD and GENHEL-PSU, with full rotorcraft flight dynamics regulated by the NLDI controller and coupled with unsteady CFD flow solutions.
